The Importance of a Sacred Space

I read a while ago that if you practice meditation at home it is nice to have a sacred space set up where you can retire to when you want to meditate. I finally got around to creating my sacred space today and relocating my ‘home office’ (on the breakfast bar in the kitchen!) up to a cosy, light, nook upstairs.
So I thought, as I spend a lot of time writing my content for my courses and sessions at home, why not kill two birds and have my sacred space where my desk is?
So that’s what I have done!
I am sat by the window – so I am bathed in light as I write but also close to a window to grab some fresh air when needed. I am comfortable and warm, not distracted by the washing machine in the background! I have everything I need at easy reach. It’s better for my posture to sit at a proper desk (hubby will be happy!). It’ll save my precious crystals being messed around with by small hands! They are now up on my shelf, out of harms way! Along with my many other sacred items – here is a list of what makes up my sacred space – you can add anything to yours – whatever is special to you, or holds meaning:
My smudging tools – Palo Santo wood, abalone shell, white sage
My crystals (I have loads of crystals, all for different purposes!)
My angelic tuning forks
My buddha
Tibetan singing bowl
I have put the shelf up at eye level so things are easy to grab and I can see them all easily.
Before I sat down to write I walked around the room and smudged the space with Palo Santo – I took care to make sure the smoke reached all of the corners, quietly set my intent for the space, then opened the window for the smoke to escape; taking with it any old energies which no longer serve the space.

I can’t wait to get cracking on writing new content from this new, love, crystal, light infused corner of loveliness!!
Namaste x
